What Mikel Arteta Said About Arsenal Facing PSG in UCL Semifinals

Arsenal booked a spot in the UEFA Champions League semifinals with a 2-1 win over Real Madrid in the second leg of their quarterfinal tie, cruising through 5-1 on aggregate to set up a showdown with Paris Saint-Germain.

Bukayo Saka had a chance to give Arsenal an early lead but missed a first-half penalty, briefly giving Real Madrid hope of mounting a comeback from their three-goal deficit. That momentum didn’t last long.

Saka redeemed himself in the 65th minute, opening the scoring to put Arsenal in front. Vinicius Jr. answered almost immediately for Real Madrid, leveling the match two minutes later.

But Arsenal stayed in control, and Gabriel Martinelli wrapped up the win with a stoppage-time goal to send the Gunners through.

“I watched the game last night and it was a crazy game,” Arteta told the outlet (h/t BBC). “I know the manager [Luis Enrique] really well, but let’s enjoy tonight. They’re a different team now and they’re on an incredible run at the moment.”
