National Weather Service issues winter storm alerts for the South to the Northeast, warning of heavy snow and ice accumulations, with travel impacts expected

One cause for these storms is warming weather in the Arctic, which pushes the “polar vortex” of cold air further south. Un-fun fact: A recent study found that the Arctic region has actually been heating up four times faster than the rest of the globe since 1979. Yikes!

Well, the President of the United States has something to say about all of this (unfortunately).

On Truth Social, President Donald Trump posted, “Record Cold Wave expected to hit 40 States. Rarely seen anything like it before. Could the Environmental Insurrectionists please explain—WHATEVER HAPPENED TO GLOBAL WARMING???”

In response, people are once again explaining the difference between weather and the overall climate.

It’s called weather vs climate. One is what you feel today. The other is a 100+ year trend measured globally. Confusing them is like thinking one bad day means your entire life is ruined

And pointing out that severe storms are actually a symptom of climate change.
