Topekan Kaden Zubler, missing since May, found deceased

Kaden Zubler probably died the day he vanished or soon afterward last May, his family members say.

Zubler has been found deceased, they announced Feb. 21 on a “Missing Kaden Zubler Updates” Facebook page they created last May dedicated to finding him.

“The exact details of Kaden’s passing remain unclear to all, but it is likely that it occurred the day he went missing, May 15, or shortly thereafter,” the page said. “Those details that we do have are shared on an individual basis.”

Topeka police hadn’t released any information.

Celebration of life to be scheduled

A private memorial service will be held and a celebration of life will be scheduled to take place at a later date, the family’s Facebook page said.

“We still encourage anyone who might know or learn anything definitive about Kaden, his movements last May, and anyone who may have come into contact with him to contact authorities,” it said.

Zubler was last seen May 15

Zubler, who went by the nickname of “Zube,” was last caught on video about 8:10 p.m. May 15 walking north on NW Topeka Boulevard at its intersection with NW Morse Street.

Zubler had been seen earlier May 15 walking at SW 21st and Topeka Boulevard, about 4.4 miles south of there, the page said.

Zubler wasn’t homeless, hadn’t been diagnosed as being mentally ill, wasn’t known to be taking any hard drugs and had never caused concern that he might want to harm himself, the Facebook page said.

It said he was independent and would have likely declined offers of help.

Zubler was reported missing May 17 to the Topeka Police Department, said Daniel Garrett, communications director for Topeka’s city government.
