The Italian Football League has reached its fourth week of action with the top teams beginning to emerge.
The Legnano Frogs three straight wins include a victory over the reigning champion Parma Panthers which is good enough to put them ahead of the unbeaten Firenze Guelfi. Parma and the Ancona Dolphins trail, both with 2-1 records.
Let’s take a look at the rest of the Power Rankings, voted on by the IFL Commission,
1 Legnano Frogs – 3-0
Although the Frogs were idle this past weekend, their unbeaten record and 24-21 win over the defending champion Parma Panthers the week before keeps them atop the rankings.
2 Firenze Guelfi – 4-0
Firenze has looked impressive with four straight wins in which have averaged 45 points a game. They could easily be ranked #1 as wekk.
3 Parma Panthers – 2-1
The Panthers were surprised by Legnano 24-21 in their last outing hence the #3 spot.
4 Ancona Dolphins – 2-1
Ancona’s only loss came at the hands of the Frogs. They only have to wait for a month to atone in the return matchup and hopefully climb up the rankings.
5 Torino Giaguari – 3-0
Torino’s three wins have come against the winless Marines and Aquile as well as the 1-2 Skorpions who squeaked by the Aquile. Still they are ranked 5th and could climb.
6 Milano Rhinos – 1-2
The Rhinos sole victory was over the lowly Bologna Warriors but it was enough to warrant a 6th place in the list.
7 Ferrara Aquile – 0-3
Although the Aquile have yet to score a win, their 47-30 loss to Firenze in which quarterback Aaron Allen returned from injury and threw 4 TD passes, was impressive enough that it earned them a 7th place in the rankings.
8 Varese Skorpions – 1-2
After winning their opening game against Ferrara, the Skorpions have not looked good losing two in a row by lopsided scores. This was no doubt the reason for their 8th spot.
9 Albisola Pirares – 1-1
The newcomers to the IFL won a game in the top league for the first time ever – 24-17 over the Lazio Marines – and thus earned a 9th place.
10 Bologna Warriors – 1-2
Bologna got a win – 19-14 over the Bergamo Lions – for the first time since May 28, 2023 which bumped them into the 10 spot.
11 Lazio Marines – 0-3
The Marines 24-17 loss to the newly promoted Pirates kept them winless and in the depths of the rankings.
12 Bergamo Lions – 0-3
Bergamo have a long season ahead of them still and with the loss to the Warriors – former cellar dwellers – sit embedded in the final spot in the rankings.
