In terms of news, NVIDIA announced multi-year strategic partnerships with two leading companies in the optical communication field, Lumentum and Coherent, investing 2 billion USD in each company for a total outlay of 4 billion USD to enhance advanced optical technology research and manufacturing. The initiative aims to fully support the large-scale construction of next-generation AI infrastructure, further solidifying its global leadership in AI and accelerated computing.
Both collaborations are non-exclusive agreements, with each contract including billions of dollars in product procurement commitments from NVIDIA, as well as future access and priority rights to advanced laser and optical network-related products and components.
China Galaxy Securities pointed out that the prosperity of optical modules remains on an upward trajectory. The current level of activity overseas is relatively high, with mainstream cloud vendors’ capital expenditure scale for 2026 continuing to exceed expectations. The improvement in GPU performance is driving a clear trend of overseas optical module rate upgrades. The scaling-up rhythm of high-rate, high-value optical modules is expected to accelerate. Meanwhile, the long-term trend of ‘optical advancement and copper retreat’ on the Scale-up side is gradually becoming clearer, further boosting the usage and demand for optical modules.
