Fans of Netflix’s critically acclaimed science fiction drama, The OA, may have something to look forward to after actor Jason Isaacs recently provided a positive update regarding Season 3 of the canceled series. Having debuted back in 2016, Netflix abruptly decided to pull the plug on the series in 2019 after just two seasons. Since then, admirers of the franchise have been waiting patiently for a possible overturn of Netflix’s decision to axe the show, but to no avail. Nevertheless, things might change for the better in the near future, as per Isaacs.
Jason Isaacs teases The OA Season 3 possibility on Netflix after it got canceled
In a recent interview, the Harry Potter alum, who portrayed the villainous Dr. Hunter Aloysius ‘Hap’ Percy in The OA, noted that the creators of the series continue to figure out ways of concluding the canceled Netflix show in a fitting manner.
During his appearance on Jo Whiley’s BBC radio show, Jason Isaacs hinted at the possibility of The OA Season 3, stating, “That story cannot end there.” He added, ” Zal [Batmanglij] and Brit [Marling] and I had dinner last week in Los Angeles, and there’s no chance for letting it go. That’s all I can say. Not because I’m keeping secrets from you, but because we will not let it go.”
In addition to serving as the co-creator of The OA alongside Zal Batmanglij, Brit Marling also essayed the protagonist, Prairie Johnson (The Original Angel), in the series before Netflix canceled it after two seasons. The show revolves around the mysterious disappearance of Prairie and her subsequent resurgence after seven years. Suffering from blindness before she vanishes, she somehow regains her sight upon returning. While many write it off as a miracle, a much more sinister reason is hiding in the shadows.
Despite Jason Isaacs’ positive update, The OA has yet to receive an official update from Netflix regarding its renewal.
