Following reports of commuters being stranded during Typhoon Koinu, Chief Executive John Lee said today that the Transport & Logistics Bureau will examine transportation arrangements with the Airport Authority and the transport sector.
 

Ahead of the Executive Council meeting this morning, Mr Lee said that with regard to the transportation issue that arose when typhoon signal No.9 was raised on October 8, the Government will look at the situation and think of a better way of handling it in future.
 

He said: “Obviously, based on past experience, the MTR Corporation (MTRC) has a contingency plan in regard to what should happen and what should not happen during typhoon signal No.9.
 

“I have asked the Transport & Logistics Bureau to examine this, together with the MTRC and also the Airport Authority, as well as the transportation sector. What I hope to achieve is a contingency plan which will deal with extreme situations involving the need for emergency transportation.”
