Spotify now rolling out redesigned Wear OS app with new gestures, more [Video]

Spotify is officially rolling out a redesign to its Wear OS app that includes new visuals on the Now Playing page and improvements to overall navigation.

The updated experience of using Spotify for Wear OS will firstly show your currently playing music, with album art sitting behind track information and controls. A swipe down brings up an “immersive view” focused on creator art, while invisible gestures can control playback. A tap acts as play/pause, while a double-tap skips tracks.

Meanwhile, a swipe up shows more traditional controls including your library and search. Finally, an “Essentials” page includes sleep timer, your playback queue, and more.

In a note shared with 9to5Google, Spotify explains:

  • Navigate and control your listening with simple gestures: The app opens to a familiar, yet refined, player. From here, you are just a swipe away from discovering new music or diving into a more immersive experience.
    • Swipe Down for Music-First Mode: To let the music truly take center stage, a swipe down transitions you into an aesthetically rich, immersive view. Here, creator art is featured front and center – making it feel like you’re wearing what you’re listening to – and intuitive gestures like tapping to play/pause or double-tapping to skip tracks take over.
    • Swipe Up for Discovery: Instantly access Home, Search, and Your Library including Downloads to browse and start new content directly from the wrist.
    • Tap for Essentials: Quickly manage your playback Queue, set a Sleep Timer, or access an expanded context menu. This gives you instant control over your session – allowing you to easily navigate to the artist or album page, or launch a track radio station to keep the vibes going.

Here’s what it looks like in action:

This new UI is rolling out now to all Spotify for Wear OS users on Pixel Watch, Galaxy Watch, and other devices. Check the Play Store for updates.

I Love How Skinny Oppo’s Foldable Phone Is, but I Hate That I Can’t Buy It

There’s a lot I like about Oppo’s Find N6 foldable phone, now that I’ve had some time to test it. It even has a triple IP rating for water resistance,
