A restaurant in Wellesbourne has been crowned the best in the country at a major industry awards ceremony – less than five years after first opening its doors.
Kolshi Premier Indian Restaurant has been named Indian Restaurant of the Year at the Nation’s Curry Awards 2026, after first winning the Midlands regional title before securing the overall UK honour.
The awards celebrate excellence across the UK’s curry industry, recognising restaurants for quality, service and innovation.
Kolshi was crowned during a lavish ceremony in Huddersfield this month, beating off stiff competition from around Britain.
Sohel Ahmed, manager at Kolshi Premier Indian Restaurant, said the recognition was a proud moment for the team after years of dedication since launching.
“To be recognised as the best in the country within five years of opening is an incredible achievement for us,” he said.
“We’ve always believed in going the extra mile for our customers – whether that’s in the service we provide or the care that goes into every dish.”
He said the restaurant’s approach has focused on using premium ingredients and delivering classic favourites to the highest standard.
“For us, it’s about doing the classics properly and making sure the quality is there every time,” Ahmed added.
“This award is a reflection of the hard work of our whole team, and it’s especially meaningful to be recognised by others in the industry.”
He also thanked customers for their continued support, adding that the team remains committed to maintaining the standards that earned them the national title.
Sohel said: “Since opening, the communuty here has been so welcoming to us, awards like this aren’t possible without them. Times are hard so we appreciate anyone who keeps coming back.”
