Sicko who poured scalding hot coffee over BABY with his mum is finally identified – but cops make tragic revelation

A TWISTED man who poured scalding hot coffee over a nine-month-old baby has been finally identified.

The horrific unprovoked attack happened at a picnic in a park in Brisbane where the tot was with his mum.

The alleged attacker has been identified as a 33-year-old Chinese national

The sick stranger approached the group and doused a whole thermos of hot coffee over him before fleeing the scene.

CCTV footage released by cops at the time shows the alleged attacker running from the Hanlon park.

And over a month after the attack, the suspect has finally been identified as a 33-year-old Chinese national who was in Australia on a student visa.

He reportedly left New South Wales and fled from Sydney Airport a few days later on August 31.

Queensland Police have since put an arrest warrant out for the man for intending to cause grievous bodily harm.

In a heartbreaking twist police also revealed the tot, who suffered burns to 60 per cent of his body – including his face, upper body and arms- will have these injuries for life.

Speaking to 4BC Radio Acting Assistant Police Commissioner Andrew Massingham said police were “very much committed” to arresting the man.

He said: “Our international search continues for the person that committed that horrendous crime.

“That child will have those injuries for life.”

A statement by Queensland Police said they are “working with national and international partner agencies to progress this investigation further.”

Cops said the suspect had no family or criminal record in Australia and had previously worked in Queensland, NSW and Victoria.

A picture of the baby shows him sitting on a blanket happily playing with a toy car before the sick attack on August 27.

An off-duty nurse reportedly ran to the baby’s aid after she heard screams from her apartment nearby.

She heroically took the boy back to her home and kept him under a cold shower until paramedics arrived.

The baby’s distraught mum told 9News at the time: “It’s torture and I’m supposed to be his protector and I couldn’t protect him.

“I’m just having flashbacks all the time about what happened and I wish that he had poured the coffee over me.

“I don’t know who would think it is okay to harm a little, innocent baby.”

Detective Inspector Paul Dalton described the attack “callous and cowardly” and “completely unprovoked” at the time.
