Sevilla pair to miss Real Betis derby clash

Two leading members of the midfield ranks at La Liga outfit Sevilla have been ruled out of the club’s upcoming showdown with Real Betis.

This comes owing to developments in their weekend meeting with Athletic Club.

García Pimienta’s troops marked their return to action on Sunday, ultimately condemned to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Ernesto Valverde’s visitors.

The eventual outcome in Andalusia, though, was far from the only blow for Sevilla yesterday evening.

In addition, two members of the club’s engine room setup – namely Lucien Agoumé and Djibril Sow – were condemned to incoming suspensions.

Both players were shown yellow cards over the course of the 90 minutes against Athletic.

Coming as their respective fifth bookings of the La Liga season, Agoumé and Sow have therefore picked up one-game bans.

And the fixture in which as much will be served could not be a more high-profile one, in the form of El Gran Derbi against Real Betis on the far side of the international break.
