Scream 7 Box Office Sets Record for Neve Campbell Horror Movie Franchise

The Scream 7 box office returns are in for the opening of the film, and it’s good news for fans of the franchise.

How did Scream 7 perform at the box office?

According to a new report from Deadline, Scream 7’s box office returns for its preview days came in higher than expected. Friday’s numbers indicate that the film premiered with $7.8 million, a new high in the horror franchise. As of now, it’s unclear how this will affect the opening weekend of the film, but it is great news overall.

Previously, Scream 7 was set to open for above a $60 million global opening. This would rank second of all of the Scream films, and just behind the latest entry in the film, Scream VI, which opened to $66.4 million globally with a $44.4 million domestic start.

“When a new Ghostface killer emerges in the quiet town where Sidney Prescott has built a new life, her darkest fears are realized as her daughter becomes the next target,” reads the official synopsis. “Determined to protect her family, Sidney must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all.”

Scream 7 is led by stars Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox, both of whom are returning to the Scream franchise. The seventh installment also stars Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Anna Camp, Mckenna Grace, Michelle Randolph, Jimmy Tatro, Asa Germann, Celeste O’Connor, Joel McHale, Sam Rechner, Ethan Embry, Tim Simons, and Mark Consuelos.

Franchise creator Kevin Williamson is directing the seventh installment from a screenplay he co-wrote with Guy Busick. It is produced by William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, and Paul Neinstein.

The next installment is also expected to feature the surprise returns of franchise vets Matthew Lillard, Scott Foley, and David Arquette. They are set to reprise their roles as Stu Macher, Roman Bridger, and Dewey Riley despite their characters’ respective deaths in 1996’s Scream, 2000’s Scream 3, and 2022’s Scream.
