The cast of Mystery Inc. in the live-action Scooby-Doo show that’s being made for Netflix has been announced.
Midnight Radio, Berlanti Productions, and Warner Bros. Television are currently developing a new live-action Scooby-Doo show for the Netflix streaming service. Based on the characters created by Hanna-Barbera, the series comes from showrunners Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg.
It was announced last month that Mckenna Grace had been tapped to play Daphne Blake in the show; now, it has also been unveiled who will be playing Shaggy, Velma, and Fred.
Who has joined the cast of the Scooby-Doo live-action Netflix show?
Per Netflix Tudum, Tanner Hagen has been cast as Shaggy Rogers in the show, while Abby Ryder Fortson will portray Velma Dinkley, and Maxwell Jenkins will star as Fred Jones.
“The series, which explores how the teens first teamed up, follows old friends Shaggy and Daphne during their final summer at camp,” a description of the plot reads. “The two get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have witnessed a supernatural murder. With help from the pragmatic and scientific townie Velma and the strange but ever-so-handsome new kid Freddy, they set out to solve the case that’s pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets.”
Hagen starred in an episode of the first season of HBO’s The Pitt. Fortson played the young version of Cassie Lang in 2015’s Ant-Man and 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp before she went on to star in movies such as 2019’s A Dog’s Journey, 2023’s Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret, and 2026’s Carousel, while she was also in the first season of The Pitt. Jenkins, meanwhile, played Will Robinson on Netflix’s Lost in Space Show; he’s also been in shows like Reacher and The Bondsman.
A release date for Netflix’s live-action Scooby-Doo show has not yet been announced.
