A co-creator of Schitt’s Creek has shared a release update for an upcoming Netflix comedy series. The new show now has a confirmed debut window as anticipation builds for the creator’s next television project with fresh cast members.
Dan Levy’s Big Mistakes gets release date window
Dan Levy’s new family crime comedy series Big Mistakes will debut on Netflix in 2026. Netflix confirmed the release window via its Tudum site, though it has not announced an exact premiere date or released a trailer.
The eight-episode series features Dan Levy, Taylor Ortega, and Laurie Metcalf in leading roles. Levy portrays Nicky, one of two dysfunctional siblings forced into organized crime, while Ortega plays his sister Morgan. Metcalf takes on the role of their mother, Linda. The cast also includes Jack Innanen as Max, Boran Kuzum as Yusuf, Abby Quinn as Natalie, Elizabeth Perkins as Annette, Jacob Gutierrez as Tare, Joe Barbara as Mike, and Mark Ivanir as Ivan.
Rachel Sennott co-created the show with Levy and serves as an executive producer. Anne-Marie McGintee also executive produces for Not a Real Production Company. Big Mistakes is the first series from Levy’s overall deal with Netflix and his second original scripted series after Schitt’s Creek.
Levy said, “I’m so excited to be bringing this truly chaotic family story to life with Netflix. I’m thrilled with the team we’re building both behind the scenes and in front of the camera. Taylor Ortega is going to become a household name, and it’s been my life’s mission to get to call Laurie Metcalf ‘mother.’ Looking forward to getting to share this with everyone.”
Dan Levy takes on multiple roles in Big Mistakes as showrunner, executive producer, and star. He made his feature directorial debut with Good Grief in 2024. Netflix plans to release Big Mistakes in 2026. The platform is expected to announce further details, including the trailer, at a later date.
