Samsung announced a partnership with Nvidia that will advance AI-RAN (Artificial Intelligence in Radio Access Networks) technologies. The aim is to enhance the efficiency and performance of mobile networks through Nvidia’s accelerated computing platforms, combined with Samsung’s virtualized solutions to optimize mobile networks.

RANs are essentially the access networks that cellular phones use to connect, with 5G being one of the examples. In this situation, Nvidia will implement its Grace CPU and/or GPU-based AI platform with the virtual network Samsung created to offer different architecture technologies for rural, suburban, or dense urban environments.
June Moon, Executive Vice President and Head of R&D, Networks Business at Samsung Electronics, emphasized the importance of this collaboration: “While AI is reshaping the telecommunications landscape, Samsung is helping operators to build the right network architecture and environment where AI can thrive, all powered by our proven and AI-powered vRAN.”
Ronnie Vasishta, Senior Vice President for Telecom at NVIDIA, added, “AI-RAN is a critical technology that delivers transformative gains in network utilization, efficiency, and performance while enabling new AI services.”
