Rihanna shooting suspect identified and charged with attempted murder after firing into singer’s home

A woman has been charged with attempted murder after several shots were fired at Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s home.

Suspect Ivana Lisette Ortiz, a 35-year-old Florida woman, is accused of shooting into the celebrity couple’s home in Beverly Hills at around 1:30 p.m. Sunday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Using an AR-15 rifle, Ortiz allegedly pulled up in front of the house and opened fire into the house from her vehicle — a white Tesla with paper license plates. She allegedly fired between seven and nine rounds, and at least four rounds hit the house, LAPD said. Police recovered seven “assault rifle casings” from the home.

Ortiz was arrested at the Sherman Oaks Galleria shopping center about eight miles from the “Diamonds” singer’s home after police followed her car there less than an hour after the shooting.

Her bail has been set at $10,225,000, and she remains in custody. Arrest records show that Ortiz was previously arrested for domestic violence and for violating probation a few months later.

Investigators found an assault-style rifle in Ortiz’s car upon her arrest. Police have not disclosed any known connection between Ortiz and the Fenty founder’s family. LAPD captain Mike Bland did not provide a motive for the shooting.

Rihanna — who shares the Beverly Hills property with her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky, and their three children — was home at the time of the shooting. It’s unclear if anyone else was inside with her, but police said no injuries were reported. Her representatives did not immediately return The Independent’s request for comment.

The nine-time Grammy-winning artist, whose real name is Robyn Fenty, bought the $13.8 million mansion in the Beverly Crest neighborhood in 2020 with her longtime partner A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers. She also owns the $10 million mansion on the neighboring property, as well as two other condos in Los Angeles.

The musician’s homes have been targeted before. In May 2018, a 27-year-old man was arrested after breaking into her Hollywood Hills house and spending the night there while waiting for Rihanna to return. He later pleaded guilty to stalking and related charges.

After the break-in, Rihanna put that mansion on the market and ended up selling it in 2021 for $6.5 million.

The superstar has kept a lower, more private profile in recent years compared to the height of her global fame with hits like “Umbrella” and “We Found Love” in the early 2000s. She shares three children with A$AP Rocky: sons RZA, 3, and Riot, 2, and daughter Rocki, who is six months old.
