Thousands of protesters gathered at Ocean Beach in San Francisco on Saturday in order to spell out a clear message for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
“We have eyes,” the message reads from above. “No more lies.”
Politics: Economic Blackout Planned To Protest ICE’s ‘Complete Disaster’ In Minnesota
Demonstrators then clustered to form letters that said “ABOLISH!” with the word ICE written underneath it.
The protest was one of many that took place this past weekend in cities like Minneapolis, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, New York and Austin, as people spoke out against the actions of federal agents and condemned the violence they’ve deployed.
In demonstrations across the U.S., people decried the fatal shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti by federal agents, as well as the fatal shooting of Keith Porter by an off-duty ICE officer and the homicide of Geraldo Lunas Campos in ICE detention.
According to The Guardian, more than 300 protests spanning all 50 states were planned as part of “ICE Out Everywhere” demonstrations that pressed for an end to the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement policies. On Friday, dozens of businesses across the U.S. also participated in a general strike that sought to send a message by reducing overall economic activity.

The scale and reach of the anti-ICE demonstrations underscore the degree of outcry there has been toward Trump and his administration’s policies.
According to a January Reuters/Ipsos poll, approval for Trump’s handling of immigration has dropped to the lowest it’s been this term, with just 39% of people approving of his approach. A January Fox News poll also found that 59% of voters think ICE is too aggressive, a notable uptick from last July.
“The courage of the people of Minnesota last week, standing up to ICE and getting in the streets in the hundreds of thousands and shutting down the city in a general strike, we’re taking that as the blueprint around the country right now,” Sanika Mahajan, an organizer for the Party for Socialism and Liberation, told SFGATE.
