Manchester City are no strangers to global expansion, but this one feels a little different. Instead of short-term camps or scattered programs, the club is putting down something more permanent in the United States, starting in North Texas.
Manchester City North Texas FC – surely a catch dan ditty can be made from the initials MCNTFC – is the club’s first full-time youth setup in the country, aimed at players aged 8 to 19. It is not just about wearing the badge for a week in the summer. This is year-round training, competitive teams, and a structure designed to mirror how things are done back in Manchester.
A proper Man City pathway in Texas
At the core of the project is a simple idea: take what works at the City Football Academy and build it from the ground up in Dallas-Fort Worth. That means full-time Man City coaches relocating to the area, delivering the same training principles and philosophy that have shaped some of the club’s top talents.
The program will stretch across multiple levels, from grassroots development to more competitive environments, with players moving through a clear pathway as they improve. There will also be talent centers, school programs, and community initiatives, making it more than just a single team or academy.
And yes, there is a bigger carrot too. Some players will get the chance to travel to Manchester and experience training at the club’s main academy, likely rubbing shoulders with some household names.
More than camps, this time it sticks
City already run programs in dozens of cities worldwide, reaching tens of thousands of young players each year. But those have mostly been short-term experiences. North Texas is different. It is a full-time base, and the first of what the club hopes will be several across the U.S.
That shift matters. It gives City a consistent presence in one of the fastest-growing soccer regions in the country, and a much stronger connection to local players and families.
Jorgina Busquets, who oversees football education and partner clubs at City Football Group, framed it as a natural next step rather than a one-off project.
“We are excited to launch our first year-round program in the United States here in North Texas,” she said. “This marks another important step in our ambition to deliver world-class coaching and development programs to young players across the United States.”
First steps already underway
Things are already moving. Summer camps are open for registration, with sessions planned throughout June and July 2026. More details, including training locations and facilities, are expected soon as the full program takes shape.
For Manchester City, this is less about a quick splash and more about building something that lasts. If it works, North Texas will not be the end point. It will be the starting line.
