Premier League announce the ultimate free perk for fans and it’s a gamechanger

Football fans all over the world are rejoicing after the Premier League announced the ultimate free perk.

April Fools is upon us and so one has to be extremely careful about any announcements made – taking them with a pinch of salt.

However the big, genuinely legitimate news from the Premier League came a day earlier on Tuesday morning when they confirmed that us football fanatics can now watch highlights of every single fixture in the top flight ever since the formation of the division in 1992.

The league has brought in a new Premier League archive section on their website, which includes every single game in all 33 seasons.

There are also a select amount of full 90 minute games to relive, including Manchester United’s 8-2 thrashing of Arsenal.

The free service has officially been rolled out on the website and app and the post announcing it racked up 2.6 million views on X.

The post from the Premier League read: “33 seasons. Endless drama. Iconic moments. Access the complete Premier League archive on demand!”

Those who sign up from the myPremierLeague can access highlights through a drop-down menu which stretches back all the way to the 1992/1993 campaign and includes all 51 different clubs to have featured.

Of course plenty of Premier League highlights have been available on YouTube and other platforms and we’ll never get tired of sticking on Premier League years.

But the difference this time is that they are all in place and fans can choose from three minute, eight minute and 20 minute highlights – the latter coming in from the 1993/1994 season.

The sheer variety of teams and games is incredible, with the ability to watch Sheffield United vs Burnley in 2019/20 and follow it up with Blackburn Rovers vs West Brom from 2002/03 in the very same sitting.

Games are in high-quality picture with commentary and though you might be into season four of your favourite show on Netflix, this might just be the perfect way to get through that shift working from home.

The 10 Premier League games you need to watch on new feature

Portsmouth 7-4 Reading – 2007

Manchester City 3-2 QPR – 2012

Manchester United 8-2 Arsenal – 2011

Liverpool 4-4 Arsenal – 2009

Chelsea 2-2 Spurs – 2016

Liverpool 4-3 Newcastle – 1996
