Powerbeats Pro 2 are the latest wireless earbuds from Apple-owned Beats by Dre. They are the successor to 2019’s Powerbeats Pro and are the company’s flagship fitness headphones.
The Powerbeats Pro 2 come in four different shades but our review unit here is in the classic (or boring, depending on who you ask) Jet Black color. The packaging is fairly unassuming for a premium $250 product and is mostly made out of uncolored cardboard.
Inside is the new 33% smaller yet still chunky case that contains both earbuds. Digging deeper we also find the new five pairs of ear tips, which is one more pair over its predecessor. This should make it much easier to find the right sized tips for your ears.
Missing from the package is a charging cable. While you will never see a charger inside one of these earbuds packages, there’s usually a small cable provided but the Powerbeats Pro 2 even forgo that. They do now use USB-C compared to the Lightning on the previous model, so you shouldn’t have much trouble finding a cable lying around that works. The case also supports Qi wireless charging.
The Powerbeats Pro 2 are a complete revamp over their predecessor, with a new design, improved acoustics, a new H2 chip, improved battery life, and even built-in heart rate monitoring. In some ways, they almost feel like a fitness oriented version of the AirPods Pro 2, which might be appealing to some.
Now that we have a pair, we will be working on a full review and be back with all the answers.
