Portugal, Ireland, Hong Kong, Maldives, India, Sri Lanka, and South Africa to Experience Emirates’ Revolutionary Refurbished Boeing 777 with Premium Economy and Business Class Starting June 2025

Tuesday, March 25, 2025

Emirates is pushing the envelope on enhancing the passenger experience, with plans to introduce Boeing 777s featuring upgraded cabins to eight more destinations within its route network. As part of its ambitious retrofit programme, the airline is progressively rolling out these revamped aircraft, with a new, fully renovated plane entering service every three weeks. By September 2025, Emirates aims to offer its enhanced Boeing 777 and Airbus A380 cabins across 44 cities, providing passengers with a superior onboard journey.

New Destinations for Refurbished Boeing 777s

Emirates’ upgraded Boeing 777s will begin service on various routes starting in June 2025, further enhancing the airline’s global footprint and the overall travel experience. The first of these new routes will take off on June 1, 2025, when the retrofitted Boeing 777s begin operating between Dubai and Lisbon (Portugal). This will include EK 191/192 and EK 193/194 flights.

Later in June, from the 25th, Dublin (Ireland) will see the debut of the upgraded cabins on Emirates’ EK 161/162 flights, offering passengers a choice of the latest Business and Premium Economy seating arrangements.

Starting on July 15, 2025, Hong Kong will become the second Chinese destination to be served by the retrofitted Boeing 777, with Emirates’ EK 382/383 flights boasting the enhanced onboard experience. Travelers heading to the Maldives will enjoy the refreshed cabins beginning June 1 on EK 658/659, followed by EK 656/657 and EK 660/661 from July 15.

From August 10, 2025, Kolkata (India) will experience the Boeing 777 upgrade with four weekly flights—on EK 572/573—flying on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Sri Lanka will also see a boost in its services, with daily flights on EK 650/651 from August 10, featuring the enhanced cabins alongside Emirates’ newly introduced A350 operations to Colombo.

The airline is also prioritizing the African market with plans to debut its refreshed Boeing 777s to Johannesburg (South Africa) and Cape Town (South Africa), marking the first time Emirates will offer Premium Economy and upgraded Business Class cabins to these cities. Johannesburg will be served on EK 765/766 from September 1, followed by EK 761/762 starting September 25. Cape Town will enjoy its own upgraded service with Emirates’ latest interiors starting on EK 770/771 from September 20.

Finally, Emirates will increase its service to London Stansted with a second daily flight on EK 067/068, offering its signature refurbished Boeing 777 cabins starting June 1.

Setting New Standards in Inflight Experience

Emirates’ ongoing Boeing 777 and Airbus A380 refurbishment programme represents the largest such initiative in the aviation industry, with a $5 billion investment aimed at elevating its product offerings across a global network. This extensive retrofit effort covers more than 220 aircraft and aims to redefine passenger comfort and satisfaction.

The revamped Boeing 777s feature a four-class configuration, making them a true standout in the skies. The most notable additions include Emirates’ Premium Economy seating and an upgraded Business Class cabin that combines privacy, aisle access, and ample space. The Business Class seats are arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration, allowing each passenger direct aisle access and the freedom to work, relax, or sleep in comfort.

The Boeing 777s will also feature 24 Premium Economy seats, offering an enhanced travel experience, in addition to 260 Economy Class seats. Emirates continues to set benchmarks in inflight experience, ensuring that its passengers enjoy an unmatched level of service and luxury.

With this continued investment in its fleet, Emirates reaffirms its commitment to providing world-class services, making air travel not just a journey but a memorable experience.
