During his annual State of the City address on Thursday, Mayor Craig Greenberg shared the first renderings of the new 1,000-room hotel.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — During his annual State of the City address on Thursday, Mayor Craig Greenberg revealed the first look at renderings for the new hotel set to transform the former Humana Tower.
The mayor believes the new convention hotel would not only attract more people to Louisville, but also “bigger and better” events, conventions and festivals.
“It’s going to be transformed into a world-class 1,000 room convention hotel that will bring more people to Louisville every day, create hundreds of local jobs, and help us attract more and larger events to venues all over Louisville. It will strengthen downtown, our entire city, and the Commonwealth of Kentucky,” Greenberg said in a social media post.
In February 2024, Humana announced it would move its employees to the renovated Waterside Building on North Brook Street and neighboring Clocktower building.
Poe Companies, a Louisville-based developer, is leading the $600-700 million redevelopment project.
Hank Hillebrand, president of Poe Companies, said crews are expected to break ground on the hotel conversion in 2027 and expects it to open within the next three to four years.
