OnePlus Open passes through the FCC and Geekbench ahead of launch on Thursday

The OnePlus Open is finally getting official this Thursday, on October 19, following many months of leaks, rumors, speculation, and, more recently, teasers. The company’s first foldable has, ahead of its launch, passed through the FCC’s certification process, and a prototype also ran Geekbench. This means we now have some confirmed details about the device.

The Open will come with a 4,805 mAh battery, which has support for 80W fast wired charging. It will run Android 13 with OxygenOS 13.2 on top, even though Android 14 is already out, thanks to the weird launch window it got to, rumor has it, because of an almost last-minute display panel supplier swap.

The Open will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset – again, weirdly since the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will literally be announced five days after the OnePlus foldable, and Xiaomi is expected to launch its first phone powered by the new chip eight days after the OnePlus Open is presented.

When open, the OnePlus Open will measure 153.4 x 142.8 mm, so it will be pretty square. It has a version with 16GB of RAM as per Geekbench (which may or may not be the only one), support for Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2 LE, and the model number is CPH2551.
