One person missing after large fire at Needham home draws massive response

One person is missing after a fire inside a large Needham home on Christmas Eve morning sent smoke pouring over the neighborhood.

Seventy-five firefighters from seven towns battled haze and smoke after the home on Woodworth Road in Needham caught fire around 6:00 a.m. Wednesday.

Needham Fire Chief Thomas Conroy said that one resident inside the home is missing at this time but that crews haven’t been able to search the entirety of the building because firefighters were still actively fighting the fire.

Massachusetts State Fire Marshal urged residents to check their fire alarms and smoke detectors.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

Members of the State Fire Marshal’s Office, Massachusetts State Police and Needham police and fire are investigating the incident.
