It’s now possible to fly nonstop between Texas and Hong Kong with Cathay Pacific.
The airline has launched service between Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Hong Kong that will operate four times weekly.
The route represents the only nonstop flight available between Texas and Hong Kong. It’s also Cathay Pacific’s sixth passenger destination in the U.S. and eight in North America. Establishing a route from Texas is especially meaningful for the airline, which was founded in 1946 by Roy C. Farrell, a native Texan.
A former U.S. Air Force pilot, Farrell began the business focused on transporting essential goods from Australia to China. That initial effort laid the foundation for what would become the airline known today as Cathay Pacific.
“The launch of our first nonstop return route between Hong Kong and Dallas Forth Worth is a symbolic homecoming and testament to the initial vision of Cathay Pacific Co-Founders Roy C. Farrell and Sydney de Kanzow, connecting the world and its people almost 80 years after the brand was born,” said Cathay Chief Customer and Commercial Officer Lavinia Lau.
DFW Chief Executive Officer Sean Donohue said the new route will open up new global connections for the region.
“DFW’s growth in passenger service also creates new ways of connecting people, cultures, and economies,” said Donohue. “We are excited to welcome Cathay Pacific and open a new nonstop gateway between Hong Kong and North Texas, enhancing global access and deepening the ties that drive innovation and commerce.”
The airline’s four-times-weekly flights between Hong Kong and DFW will be operated using an Airbus A350-1000 aircraft.
Flights between Hong Kong from Dallas will operate on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
The Cathay Pacific brand has grown over the years to also include Cathay Holidays, a division of the company that also recently news of its own by launching a new booking platform.
