news.gov.hk – Green bond allocations revealed

The Government today announced the subscription and allocation results for its latest batch of retail green bonds.

In all, 321,018 valid applications were received for a total of around $30 billion in principal amounts of bonds.

Of these applications, 184,021 seeking eight or fewer units will be allocated in full.

The other 136,997 applicants, seeking more than eight units, will also be allocated eight units each, with 4,187 being allocated one additional unit after a ballot.

The bonds will be issued on October 10 and listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange the next day.

The final issue amount is $20 billion.

Financial Secretary Paul Chan said that by offering investment options with steady returns, the Government’s retail green bond scheme continues to be well received by the public.

He added that the Government will continue to work with regulators and stakeholders in the industry to enrich Hong Kong’s green and sustainable finance ecosystem, further facilitate market development and promote green transformation with the public.
