Newcastle 1-2 Nottingham Forest

Mazy run from Miley to get into the box and get a shot off but it’s well blocked. Miley looks like the player who could drag Newcastle back into this.

Newcastle 1-2 Nottingham Forest

Howe reacts by making a double change.

Wilson and Livramento on for Almiron and Burn.

Goal – Newcastle 1-2 Nottingham Forest (Chris Wood)

It’s Wood again and this goal has been coming!

Elanga does brilliantly to find Wood who eases past Burn and then dinks the ball over Dubravka.

Forest have come from behind to lead at St James’ Park.

Newcastle 1-1 Nottingham Forest

Forest have started this second half much the better of the two teams.

Gibbs-White is at the heart of it again as he feeds Elanga, but his shot is tame and straight at Dubravka.

Newcastle 1-1 Nottingham Forest

Newcastle have had major issues dealing with Forest’s counter-attacking ability.

Aina gets to the byline and cuts the ball back and there is panic in the Newcastle area, but the ball had just gone behind for a goal kick.

Plenty of nervy moments for the hosts today.

Newcastle 1-1 Nottingham Forest

Big chance for Forest right at the start of the second half as Elanga crosses for Gibbs-White but he puts his header wide.

Should have at least hit the target.

The players are back out…

The second half will be getting underway shortly.

Chris Wood haunts his former club

Newcastle looked set to take a lead into half time but Chris Wood had other ideas and brought Forest level just before the break.

Newcastle 1-1 Nottingham Forest (Half time)

That’s the end of the half.

Newcastle have had the better of the half for the most part, but Forest have looked very dangerous on the counter-attack and levelled things up on the stroke of half time.

Newcastle 1-1 Nottingham Forest

Isak gets up to head towards goal but Turner parries away and then Forest break again.

Hudson-Odoi cuts inside but his shot is weak and easily held by Dubravka.

Goal – Newcastle 1-1 Nottingham Forest (Chris Wood)

One end to the other in a blink of an eye and Forest are level.

Almiron gets into the box and should shoot but opts to pass and Forest win the ball back.

They break quickly and Gibbs-White plays it to Elanga who squares for Wood to tap into the empty net.

Newcastle 1-0 Nottingham Forest

Almiron pics the ball up in a central position and tries his luck from the edge of the box but he slipped and his shot goes well over.

Newcastle 1-0 Nottingham Forest

Forest still having their moments and Gibbs-White drives upto the edge of the box as the visitors win the ball back.

His left footed shot goes well over the bar though.

Newcastle 1-0 Nottingham Forest

Bruno nutmegs the Forest defender and then goes down in the box but it’s a slip rather than a trip and the referee rightly waves away any penalty appeals.

Newcastle 1-0 Nottingham Forest

Lovely play from Isak as he leaves Danilo for dead and forces Turner to tip over his own bar.

Newcastle then make something of the resulting corner, but Miley’s header is straight at Turner.

Newcastle 1-0 Nottingham Forest

The ball is flicked on and Elanga is through. He has to square the ball to Wood for a tap-in but decides to go alone and Dubravka makes a brilliant save to his right.

Newcastle 1-0 Nottingham Forest

Forest have had their moments and they get another one as a long throw goes through the six yard box but the ball is poked just wide.

Newcastle 1-0 Nottingham Forest

Montiel has also just been booked for asking for a yellow card.

Newcastle 1-0 Nottingham Forest

Two yellow cards in quick succession as Sangare and Gordon go into the book for late tackles.

In between that Gordon had a decent chance, but it was well blocked by a Forest defender.

Newcastle 1-0 Nottingham Forest

Nervy moment at the back for Newcastle as Elanga almost gets in behind Burn.

The full back kicks it against Elanga and the ball rebounds into the arms of Dubravka.

Goal – Newcastle 1-0 Nottingham Forest (Alexander Isak)

So nonchalant from Isak as he steps up and places it to Turner’s left.

Newcastle 0-0 Nottingham Forest

Good intricate passing from Newcastle and Isak is tripped by Aina as he tries to turn.

VAR checking but this looks unlikely to be overturned…

Newcastle 0-0 Nottingham Forest

Gibbs-White takes the corner and it comes out to the edge of the box to Aina, but he can’t keep his effort down as it flies well over the bar.

Newcastle 0-0 Nottingham Forest

Very congested in the Forest box and Isak goes down looking for a penalty.

VAR checks it but nothing doing and Forest win a corner up the other end.

Newcastle 0-0 Nottingham Forest

Forest trying to play out from the back and they make a mess of it, presenting the ball to Almiron on the edge of the box.

He passes to Miley who squares it for Trippier, but his cross is over-hit and goes behind for a goal kick.

Newcastle 0-0 Nottingham Forest

Newcastle working the ball well down the right and Miley gets in after a clever pass.

Longstaff is alone in the six yard box but the cross drifts over his head. A wasted chance there for the hosts.
