New images from Zootopia 2 have been released.
The first Zootopia movie was released in March 2016. The film was a massive hit for Walt Disney Animation Studios, as it made over a billion dollars at the global box office. That led to a television spin-off show, Zootopia+, that was released in 2022, while a sequel is now in the works.
What is the new Zootopia 2 update?
New images from Zootopia 2 have now been released and can be viewed below via X. One introduces fans to a new character, Mayor Winddancer, who is described as “an actor turned politician,” while the other sees Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) walking alongside a beaver character named Nibbles (Fortune Feimster).
Disney gave fans attending the Annecy Animation Festival a first look at Zootopia 2 earlier today, per Variety. Writer and director Jared Bush said at the event, “Nick and Judy are now Zootopia Police Department’s newest rookie cop partners. But the question of this movie is whether these two animals, who are so different, really have what it takes to stay together in the long run. In other words, if the first movie was like their honeymoon, this movie is what moving in feels like.”
Additionally, it was announced that Jean Reno — known for starring in movies such as 1990’s La Femme Nikita, 1994’s Léon: The Professional, 1996’s Mission: Impossible, and more — will voice an officer of the Zootopia Police Department.
Regarding the characters from the first movie who are now confirmed to be returning for Zootopia 2, Bush said, “Chief Bogo will be back. Clawhauser. Gazelle. Mayor Bellwether. That naked yak. Judy’s 278 brothers and sisters. Mr. Big and his daughter Fru Fru. And of course, Flash.”
The voice cast further includes Ke Huy Quan as Gary De’Snake and Quinta Brunson as Dr. Fuzzby.
Zootopia 2 will be released in United States theaters on November 26, 2025.
