The Muppet Show finds major success on Disney+ streaming
Disney+ has scored a major streaming win with its latest special, The Muppet Show. It has quickly climbed to the top of the platform’s viewing charts across multiple countries. According to FlixPatrol, the program, released on Disney+ and ABC on February 4, 2026, currently holds the number one spot on Disney+ in both the United States and the United Kingdom.
The special has also reached first place in several other territories, including Canada, the Dominican Republic, Germany, Ireland, and the Netherlands. It has surpassed a wide slate of high-profile projects on the service, ranging from Ella McCay and The Devil Wears Prada to Te Deseo Lo Mejor and Avengers: Endgame.
The Disney+ special serves as a contemporary revival of Jim Henson’s series that originally aired from 1976 to 1981. Directed by Alex Timbers, the special brings Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, and the rest of the Muppet cast back to the familiar Muppet Theatre. The format combines a classic mix of music, sketch comedy, and backstage chaos, while introducing new material and guest appearances. Sabrina Carpenter is the featured guest star in the Disney special.
In addition to Carpenter, the special includes appearances from Maya Rudolph and Seth Rogen playing themselves. It also brings back veteran Muppet performers, including Bill Barretta, Dave Goelz, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, and David Rudman, among others.
The critical reaction to the special has been notably positive. The release currently has a 98 percent critics rating from 48 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. It also holds a 98 percent audience score on the Popcornmeter, highlighting strong interest in the franchise’s latest streaming outing.
