On the heels of Valentine’s Day, many Southwest Florida singles feel the sting of dating app fatigue and the endless cycle of swiping. For those tired of digital matches, Luma Luxury Matchmaking offers a more personal approach.
Finding a long-term partner in Naples and Fort Myers can be tough. April Davis, Luma’s founder and CEO, points to a transient population and a gender imbalance.
“Florida, in general, has a lot more women, so that makes it more challenging for people, for women especially,” Davis said. She added that busy professionals often don’t have the time to manage dating apps, which can also be full of bots or people not looking for commitment.
Luma has an office at 12553 New Brittany Blvd. in Fort Myers and opened a new office on 5th Avenue South in Naples in late 2025.
Davis said the decision to expand into Naples was driven in part by longtime clients from the Midwest who own second homes in the area and want to meet partners while spending time there.
“I am from Minneapolis originally, and so many people from the Midwest have homes in Naples,” Davis said. “We’d have clients that had second homes down there, spent half the year down there and wanted to meet somebody down there as well. So it just made sense for us to open another location in Naples.”

Luma relies on human intuition rather than artificial intelligence. The team, with more than 250 years of combined experience, arranges activity-based introductions instead of traditional coffee dates, including strolling through the Naples Botanical Garden or kayaking.
“You really get to know somebody better when you see them in a more relaxed type of environment and you’re next to them versus facing them and feeling like it’s an interrogation,” Davis said.

Luma functions like recruiters for its clients’ love lives, using a proprietary database similar to a high-end rolodex. The company reports an 89% success rate in forming long-term relationships.
Davis made her first successful marriage match at age 16 and later built Luma by combining her passion with an MBA and a background in process improvement.
She said the goal is quality over quantity. “We focus more on being successful,” Davis said. “It’s important to have as many potential options as possible.” Singles can join the database for free or choose to have matchmakers work directly on their behalf.

For Southwest Florida singles moving past Valentine’s Day, Luma offers a different way to meet people.
“We believe that the future of love won’t be outsourcing your heart to AI. It will be a return to what makes relationships meaningful in the first place: authenticity, trust, and human experience,” reads Luma’s website.
“We’ll honor our promise to keep love human.”
