Hong Kong’s MTR Corporation has urged rail passengers to plan ahead on Saturday as late-night travel along some parts of the Tung Chung line will finish early to allow for works connecting the track to a new station.
The rail giant said on Wednesday that the second of four turnouts would be installed overnight on Saturday to connect existing tracks between the Sunny Bay and Tung Chung stations with the planned “Tung Chung East” stop.
The last train leaving from Hong Kong station for Tung Chung will depart at 11.07pm that day, instead of the usual 12.50am, while the one headed in the opposite direction is scheduled for 11.01pm, replacing the 12.43am train.
But services between Sunny Bay and Hong Kong stations will continue as normal, with the last trains to depart from both stops at 12.50am.
The MTR Corp will also provide free shuttle buses between Sunny Bay and Tung Chung for late-night travellers.
