Mr. & Mrs. Smith Season 2 has found a replacement for Sophie Thatcher.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith, which is inspired by the 2005 film of the same name, premiered on Prime Video in February 2024. The first season of the show stars Donald Glover as John Smith/Michael and Maya Erskine as Jane Smith/Alana, two undercover spies who must pose as a married couple.

The show was renewed for a second season in May 2024, with Thatcher announced to be in talks to star in the show in February 2025. However, production on Season 2 was postponed, causing showrunner Francesca Sloane to be replaced by Anna Ouyang Moench.

Who has joined the cast of Mr. & Mrs. Smith Season 2?

Per Variety, it’s now been announced that Talia Ryder has replaced Thatcher in the lead role for Season 2. She’ll star opposite Mark Eydelshteyn, who is known for playing Vanya in the award-winning Anora movie that was released in 2024.

“This next installment is shooting in Los Angeles after the production received a $22.4M tax credit from the California Film Commission to relocate,” the article reads. “The season was initially set to film in fall 2025, but was put on an indefinite delay. The first season ended with a cliffhanger, leaving the fates of Erskine and Glover’s characters in limbo. But Variety reported in 2024 that the two actors would not be at the center of the next season of the show, which would take on more of an anthology format.”

Ryder made her feature film debut in Eliza Hittman’s Never Rarely Sometimes Always, which was released in 2020. Since then, she’s appeared in movies such as 2021’s West Side Story, 2022’s Do Revenge, 2023’s Dumb Money, 2024’s Little Death, and 2025’s Honey Don’t!, among other titles.

A premiere date for Mr. & Mrs. Smith Season 2 has not yet been announced by Prime Video.
