Renaming things seems to be all the rage right now.

Google and Apple have changed the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America.”
The governor of Illinois announced he would be renaming Lake Michigan to Lake Illinois.
And some random lawmaker just submitted a bill to rename Greenland to “Red, White, and Blueland.”

And now, MoonPie, the literal cookie, announced they are renaming Florida.

The chocolate cookie said, “The land mass previously known as Florida will now be referred to as MoonPieTown.” Those changes are “effective immediately.”

The renaming has widespread internet support, like 32,000 reposts and millions of views.
“I will never call Florida anything else ever again,” this person said.
“MoonPieTown sounds better than Florida anyways,” another person said.
And this person has already updated their résumé to say “Proud graduate of the University of MoonPieTown.”
The enthusiasm is palpable.

“Guess I need a MoonPieTown license plate now,” this person said.
“thank you moonpie i cannot wait to vacation in your rolling hills and gorgeous vistas,” another person chimed in.
And this person declared, “IM PROUD TO BE A MOONPIETOWNIAN.”
As this person said, “I triple dog dare you Google Maps. Do it.”
