Milford Police said an online gun threat has led to a Milford teen facing more than a dozen gun and drug charges.
Police arrested the 16-year-old juvenile on Thursday, March 5, after serving a search warrant at his home, Chief Robert Tusino said Monday, March 9. Police did not identify the teen due to their age.
“This was pretty serious,” Tusino said. “This is one of those cases, for lack of a better term, starts as a molehill and turns into a mountain.”
Last week, the teen threatened to shoot and kill a fellow Milford High School student on Snapchat, police allege.
Milford Police said they found drugs and gun during an investigation into threats last week. A 16-year-old juvenile faces several charges.
Police obtained a search warrant for the teen’s home. There, they allegedly found a Ravens Arm MP-25 handgun; ammunition; and more than 42 grams of cocaine, as well as fentanyl, Valium, Suboxone, Xanax and other items typically used in drug trafficking, according to Tusino.
Police charged the teen with possession of a firearm without an FID card; possession of ammunition without an FID card; possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony; improper storage of a firearm; assault with a dangerous weapon; threatening to commit a crime; trafficking in cocaine; possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute; possession of cocaine; possession of fentanyl with the intent to distribute; possession of fentanyl; possession of Valium with the intent to distribute; possession of Valium; and possession of Suboxone.
Chief credits arrest to relationships school resource officers develop
Tusino credited the arrest to relationships that school resource officers have developed with students.
“It’s only through the hard work and dedication of the school resource officers and the relationships we have with teachers and students,” the chief said. “It’s because of those relationships that the students feel they can approach the school resource officers about things like this.”
The teen was held on $75,000 bail after their arrest, pending arraignment in Worcester Juvenile Court. Juvenile court proceedings are not publicly available.
