Mikel Coffee gears up to enter India with Greko India

Greek coffeehouse chain Mikel Coffee is set to enter the Indian market in partnership with Haryana-based consultancy firm Greko India.

It is considering opening its first store in Delhi NCR.

Greko India has been awarded master franchise rights in the country by the coffee chain, as reported by Nuffoods Spectrum.

The move marks Mikel Coffee’s first foray into South Asia. The expansion plan includes targeting major Indian cities such as Mumbai, Hyderabad and Kolkata following the initial launch.

The decision to venture into India arrives amidst a growing trend of international coffee brands exploring opportunities in the country’s rapidly expanding branded coffee shop market.

The partnership between the Larissa-based coffee chain and Greko India offers a gateway to Europe through the Greece Golden Visa programme and aims to strengthen economic ties and cultural exchanges.

In December 2024, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf granted master franchise rights to Kolkata-based Ekaagra Ostalaritza to expand from 30 to 250 locations in India up to 2029.

Greko India specialises in building India-Greece relations through initiatives including real estate investment and cultural exchanges.

In January 2024, Mikel Coffee entered the Serbian market with the opening of a new store on Belgrade’s John Kennedy Street.
