Michael Elliot Epps, better known as Mike Epps, recently posted an apology video on his Instagram Story for his offensive comments about Nicki Minaj.
“What’s up? Y’all know I’m Mr Accountability,” the comedian began his video. “I say stuff and do stuff, and then I go to bed, wake up the next morning. You know, being prayed on and thought about it.”
He then addressed the “Super Bass” singer and said, “I just want to apologize to you, Nicki Minaj, for saying the stuff that I said. I want to apologize to your husband, your kids, [and] all that for saying what I said.”
The 55-year-old went on to explain that he “sometimes” gets on stage after having a few drinks, and goes “wild.” He added, “I’m not filtered.” The comedian further said, “So, I just wanted to apologize to you. Not explaining myself, but I am Mr. Accountability. I love apologizing. Something a lot of people don’t know how to do. Apologize to you, Nicki.”
On February 6, Epps made crude comments about the “Anaconda” singer and Donald Trump during one of the shows of his We Them One’s Comedy Tour. In a short clip shared on X (formerly Twitter), the comedian said that Minaj had a “train ran on her by Donald Trump.”
The Friday After Next actor’s comments came a few weeks after Minaj declared her support for Trump during a press conference last month. The Grammy-nominated singer said that she was “probably the President’s number one fan,” adding that it was “not going to change.”
The Trinidadian rapper later posted a photo of her “Trump Gold Card” on X, and shared another post noting that she was “finalizing that citizenship paperwork.”
