Marcus Rashford: Man Utd forward’s representatives meet with Barcelona over January transfer | Football News

Marcus Rashford’s representatives met with Barcelona executives in Lisbon on Tuesday ahead of the Catalan club’s game with Benfica.

As revealed by Sky Sports News last week, Barcelona is Rashford’s preferred destination if he is to leave Manchester United in this transfer window.

Barcelona would have to create sufficient salary space through outgoings in order to accommodate the England international at the Nou Camp.

The potential departures of Ansu Fati and Eric Garcia would help.

Barcelona have yet to formally make a move for Rashford, while Borussia Dortmund approached United to enquire about loan terms for the player.

Meanwhile, AC Milan turned their focus away from the forward to Kyle Walker last week.

United relaxed over Rashford situation

Sky Sports News understands a deal for Rashford to leave Manchester United in this window is looking increasingly difficult.

Dortmund will continue to push but the finances remain a big issue as they would require United to contribute a substantial percentage of his wages.

United are understood to be relaxed over the situation.

The feeling is that talk of a move has been driven by Rashford.

Head coach Ruben Amorim continues to omit him from the matchday squad and has put the onus on the player to fight his way back in.

The Soccer Saturday panel discuss whether or not Rashford should leave Manchester United and what the future might hold for the England forward

Clinton Morrison to Sky Sports News:

“The situation with Rashford is that he hasn’t played football for ages at Manchester United. He’s been getting left out of the squad – Ruben Amorim says he’s not involved at the moment, so there is a situation there.

“If he does stay at Manchester United – I still think he has got a lot to offer, but the time has come now where Marcus Rashford needs a new challenge.

“I think he just needs a change. He’s such a talented individual with a lot of ability. I just want to see the best of Marcus Rashford again.”

Manchester United’s director of football negotiations Matt Hargreaves has been in Milan to discuss a move for Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu.

Sky Italy report United’s current offer is £25.4m + £4.2m in add ons (€30m + €5m) for the 20-year-old left-back.

Under those conditions, Lecce would prefer not to sell him in this transfer window.

United will continue to negotiate to try and find a breakthrough within what they consider to be responsible financial parameters.
