Manchester City star Bernardo Silva confirms he’ll choose his next club before the 2026 World Cup and keeps Juventus hopes alive, saying he won’t return to Benfica.
Portugal international Bernardo Silva has emerged as one of Juventus’ priority targets for the summer. His contract with Manchester City expires at the end of the season, so he’s available on a free transfer, and according to reports in Italy, talks with the Serie A giants are already underway.

“I want to resolve it between the end of the season and the start of training with the National Team so I can have a clear head, because the World Cup is too important a competition for me to have my head on other things,” Bernardo Silva told Sport 11.
Juventus, Barcelona, Benfica and Galatasaray are said to be among the clubs interested in securing his services, but Bernardo Silva won’t return to the Portuguese club in 2026-27.
“I already told you I’m not going to Benfica,” he confirmed.
“There’s one clear intention: I want to return [one day]. I don’t know if the club will want me when I want to return. I want to return.”
Bernardo Silva is the Manchester City captain and has already confirmed that he’ll leave Etihad Stadium at the end of his contract on June 30.
The 31-year-old has scored three goals and provided five assists in 50 appearances across all competitions this term.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reported in April that Juventus coach Luciano Spalletti personally contacted the Manchester City star, hoping to persuade him to move to Turin.
Juventus sit third in the Serie A table, but are still fighting for a Champions League spot, one point above Roma and Milan, who are level on 67 points with two rounds remaining.
