Atalanta star Ademola Lookman has been linked with a move to Liverpool again as the Premier League leaders look ahead to the summer, when there could be a series of major overhauls at Anfield.

Liverpool were eliminated from the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain on penalties on Tuesday night, largely due to the performance of Gianluigi Donnarumma in the shoot-out, keeping out spot-kicks from both Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones.

Now with just 10 matches of the season remaining for Liverpool (nine in the Premier League plus the EFL Cup final), the focus is already beginning to shift towards the summer transfer window.

Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all out of contract at the end of the current campaign and time is running out if Liverpool are to renew any of their deals before the start of the next transfer session.

Additionally, there are suggestions that the likes of Darwin Nunez, Andrew Robertson, Kostas Tsimikas and even Diogo Jota could be moved on if appropriate offers arrive in the summer.

Why Lookman is an option for Liverpool this summer

With Alexander-Arnold and Salah both increasingly likely to leave Liverpool, there is a growing need for new attacking reinforcements.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, but risk being priced out of a deal as his current employers reportedly value him in the region of €200m. Hugo Ekitike of Eintracht Frankfurt has also been mentioned in Thursday’s reports, but he is not expected to come cheap either, valued at around €80m by the Bundesliga outfit.

Footmercato (via Calciomercato.com) report that Lookman is also an option for Liverpool’s attacking department in the summer, and could be available for a slightly cheaper fee in the region of €60m from Atalanta this summer.

The London-born Nigeria international has already played in the Premier League having joined Liverpool’s Merseyside rivals Everton from Charlton Athletic in 2017. He has also played for both Fulham and Leicester City while on loan from RB Leipzig.

Lookman, the reigning African Player of the Year, is currently the joint-third highest goalscorer in Serie A this term with 13 goals and five assists from 22 league outings, plus seven goal involvements from seven games in the Champions League, made up of five goals and two assists.
