Looking Glass Coffee Being Replaced by Snohomish Coffee Company

For those who venture out to Downtown Snohomish for a cup of coffee in a warm, unique setting, we have bittersweet news.

After seven years, Looking Glass Coffee has decided to shut down. The good news is Snohomish Coffee Company will take over the location and retain some of Looking Glass Coffee’s employees.

Here’s a statement from Looking Glass:

Dear Friends of Looking Glass Coffee, we have some bittersweet news to share.

Tex and I have made the difficult decision to close Looking Glass so that we can focus on family and health. Our final day of service will be January 26th.

Although we are sad to see this chapter come to a close, we are excited to share that we’ll be passing the torch to @snohomishcoffeeco , who will be taking over the space after a brief remodel. We know they will continue to serve this wonderful community with the same love and passion for people and great coffee. We’ll be sharing a bit more about their vision and values over the coming weeks.

To our amazing community—thank you. Whether you’ve been here for a quick cup of coffee, live music, a social gathering, a night of trivia, or a lively evening of karaoke, you’ve made this place so special.

For the past seven and a half years, this space has been more than just a coffee shop—it’s been a vibrant hub for our community. We’ve been honored and humbled to be a part of your lives, witnessing joyful reunions and celebrations, first dates, marriage and family addition reveals, business connections, knowledge being gained, and young talents finding their voice on our beloved stage. Countless memories have been made over a cup of coffee, and it has been an incredible journey. We are deeply grateful for the amazing community that has supported us throughout the years.

To our incredible staff, thank you for being the heart and soul of Looking Glass. Your passion, kindness, and hard work have shaped this space into something so special.

While this chapter is coming to a close, you may still see some familiar faces, as some of our team members will be continuing with Snohomish Coffee Co. We know they’ll carry forward the spirit of warmth and hospitality that has always defined Looking Glass.

Snohomish Coffee Company was struggling after being told they couldn’t operate a coffee cart in Downtown Snohomish.

In the summer of 2023, they had invested their own money in building out a coffee cart and bought all of the necessary gear, only to be told after several months of waiting that mobile coffee carts are not permitted inside of Historic Downtown Snohomish.

Four months ago they decided to make efforts to work on building out a physical location. Twenty days ago they started a gofundme that had raised $6,120 towards a $100,000 goal.

As luck would have it, now they can just take over Looking Glass an share their small batch brews in their own location.
