Local “celebrities” gathered to help bag groceries at Food City on Ocoee Crossing last week in exchange for tips that will benefit the United Way of the Ocoee Region.
During the United Way’s third annual event, held on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, volunteers from Cleveland State Community College, Women at Amazon, Mars Wrigley, Whirlpool, Lee University, the Rotary Club of Cleveland, the City of Cleveland, Bradley County government, the United Way of the Ocoee Region’s Young Professional’s Circle, and Best Buy Metals bagged customer groceries for tips, which the local United Way will utilize to fund its many community initiatives.
Last year’s event raised $7,027 for the United Way’s Community Impact Fund.
The total amount raised during this year’s event will be announced later this week.
