Lo Chung-mau attends Foshan forum


Secretary for Health Prof Lo Chung-mau today led a delegation to attend the Fifth Greater Bay Area (GBA) Conference on Inheritance, Innovation & Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Foshan.
 
While addressing those gathered at the forum’s opening ceremony, Prof Lo said the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government is most grateful for the nation’s support and guidance for the development of Chinese medicine (CM) in Hong Kong.
 
He stressed that Hong Kong will continue to drive this advancement on all fronts with a view to contributing to the national development of CM.
 
During the conference, Prof Lo witnessed the signing of agreements on multiple GBA CM co-operation projects, including one on the establishment of a collaboration framework for the GBA CM Visiting Scholars Programme that serves to enhance clinical professional exchanges and push ahead the development of integrated Chinese-Western medicine treatment services.
 
The pact was signed by the Hospital Authority (HA), Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the First Affiliated Hospital of the Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
 
HA and Department of Health representatives participated in a keynote session and roundtable discussion, sharing Hong Kong’s progress and achievements in developing high-quality CM services and industry.

In the afternoon, Prof Lo and his delegation attended a seminar, convened by National Health Commission Party Group Member and National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine Party Secretary & Commissioner Prof Yu Yanhong, on the co-operation mechanism of the construction of CM highlands in the bay area.

 

At the seminar, relevant government officials and institution representatives in the bay area exchanged views on the establishment of a standing collaboration mechanism and co-operation platform.
