Awen is excited about returning to Hong Kong where she spent years working as a lawyer before her “leap of faith” into music.
“I performed at Hong Kong’s Art Basel in 2023, but this time feels different because it’s a mini festival with two of the biggest promoters coming together to stage it,” says Awen, real name Lucille Kante, via Zoom from the French capital, Paris.
“Hong Kong is where I discovered my sound and my voice, so returning feels incredibly emotional.”
Awen is headlining the “For the Love of Hong Kong” electronic music festival at Central’s AIA Vitality Park on October 19, an event organised by Magic Room and Spin Sum.

The one-day festival, held across two stages, also features DJ duo andhim from Germany, Kadosh and 10 Hong Kong-based DJs.
“I had a rooftop when I was living in Hong Kong, and went up there many times to look at the city and was always like, ‘wow, I feel lucky to be able to see this’ … There is nowhere else in the world quite like it,” says Awen.
