Lauren Sánchez Bezos Won’t Live Down Her Inappropriate Outfit At 2024 White House Dinner

One of Lauren Sánchez Bezos’ most inappropriate outfits was a spicy red number she chose to wear to the White House, of all places. Jeff Bezos’ now-wife turned heads at an April 2024 state dinner in a figure-hugging, off-the-shoulder corset dress. For an extra touch of sultriness, the lace corset was semi-sheer around the torso. There’s no denying that the floor-length gown beautifully accentuated Lauren’s curves and confirmed that crimson was her color.

However, the positives don’t do much to dissuade the idea that the dress was quite inappropriate for the event. The deep neckline, ample cleavage, and sheer torso detailing were all arguably too bold for a state dinner that saw the attendance of then-President Joe Biden and then-Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, as well as numerous other prominent politicians and A-listers. Additionally, Lauren’s $2,300 Rasario corset gown didn’t exactly follow the theme of the event, which, according to CBS News, was “celebration of spring.” The only blatant reference to the theme was in Lauren’s heels that featured golden vine detailing.

If Lauren was trying to get people talking about her at the event, she definitely accomplished her purpose. However, the ‘fit probably didn’t spark the kind of discourse she was hoping for. On X, one commentator wrote that Lauren was only one sneeze away from a wardrobe malfunction. A few people also snarked that the ensemble was better suited for a night out at Mar-a-Lago and not the White House. Even people who liked the outfit couldn’t deny that it wasn’t a good fit for the event.

There is an explanation for Lauren Sánchez Bezos’ inappropriate fashion choices

Speaking at the Forbes Power Women’s Summit in 2024, Lauren Sánchez Bezos shared that she was well aware that people wanted to dictate her fashion choices and behavior. However, she had no interest in giving in to their demands and was instead channeling her energy towards being the most genuine version of herself (via Hello!). And fashion is undoubtedly a big part of that.

During a September 2024 appearance on “The View,” Lauren admitted that her fashion sense was “a little sexy” (via People). Jeff Bezos’ now-wife went on to share that she drew fashion inspiration from women who were equally unafraid to dress boldly, saying, “I really look up to women like Eva Longoria, Salma Hayek, Jennifer Lopez, Sofía Vergara — they really embrace their culture when they dress and so I think, it’s just in me.” Meanwhile, Lauren got her confidence lessons from Barbara Walters.

During her appearance on “The View,” Lauren recalled how she had considerably toned down her style when she was auditioning for the same talk show in the 1990s. However, Walters wasn’t too happy about her being dressed according to the show’s dress code. Lauren recalled how the iconic TV personality had imparted a pearl of wisdom onto her: “If you’re going to go down, go down as yourself … Because if you don’t go down as yourself, you’re going to beat yourself up twice” (via People). The style advice that Lauren Sánchez Bezos received from Barbara Walters decades ago still undoubtedly rings true today. However, it also may have been responsible for one of Lauren Sánchez Bezos’ inappropriate news anchor looks.
