Laura Woods had a ‘nightmare’ moment on live TV when interviewing Erik Ten Hag after Manchester United‘s dramatic 1-0 win against FC Copenhagen in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
The Red Devils picked up their first win in this year’s competition at Old Trafford as Harry Maguire headed home the only goal of the game before Andre Onana saved a last-minute penalty from Jordan Larsson, the son of former United striker Henrik.
Ten Hag spoke to TNT Sports after the match, and even took the microphone at one stage from host Woods.
As the interview ended, Woods said: ‘Thank you, Erik. Thank you for interviewing me as well! Different. Congratulations,’ before taking the microphone back and reaching out to give the Dutchman a handshake.
Unfortunately for her, Ten Hag turned away at that precise moment to shake hands with pundits Rio Ferdinand and Paul Scholes, leaving Woods to jokingly shake hands with thin air.

Ten Hag noticed his mistake and did come back to Woods to finally shake her hand, while she was left giggling at the awkward moment.
As Ten Hag walked away, Woods said to Ferdinand and Scholes: ‘How weird was that? I don’t know what to do with my hands with no microphone, and then (Ten Hag) obviously pied me completely.’
Woods later took to Instagram to share Ten Hag’s unintentional snub alongside the caption ‘Lived out my worst nightmare right there.’
Woods took over as TNT Sports’ lead presenter for their Champions League coverage from Jake Humphrey at the start of the season following the channel’s summer rebranding.
The 36-year-old was also left red-faced on her debut on the channel last month when Ferdinand cheekily nutmegged her in front of the cameras ahead of Manchester City’s 3-1 win against Crvena Zvezda.
She will return to present TNT Sports’ coverage tonight when City face Swiss side Young Boys and Newcastle host Borussia Dortmund at St James’ Park.
