Jeff Bezos is Renting A Famous Musicians House

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors

Some may know that Jeff Bezos has an extensive real estate portfolio across the country, including properties in Hawaii, New York, Florida, and California. However, what you may not know is that the Amazon chairman has been renting Kenny G’s mansion in Malibu for a hefty price for the better part of a year.

Bezos, 60, and his fiancée, Lauren Sánchez, have been calling the oceanfront property their temporary home while awaiting the completion of their Beverly Hills mega-mansion.

A report from the New York Post in 2023 detailed the project in an article that stated work on the mansion had been halted after an expansion application was denied that year for a second time, following a denial in 2021.

According to a report by TMZ published on May 31, the Amazon founder has been leasing the property from the jazz saxophonist (whose real name is Kenneth Bruce Gorelick) since March for $600,000 a month. The outlet also reported that the price did not include furniture, as the billionaire chose to provide his own.

TMZ also reported that the completion of the couple’s mega-mansion in Beverly Hills remains uncertain, with calculations indicating Bezos would spend more than $7 million annually on the rental.

Meanwhile, Kenny G has been making headlines after his ex-wife, Belinda “Lyndie” Benson, accused the musician of profiting off the property while attempting to reduce his spousal support payments. TMZ also reports that Benson, 58, claimed she didn’t know her ex moved out so Bezos could move in and “thinks he’s renting it to keep the cash out of her hands.”

The two have been locked in an ongoing legal dispute for years since their divorce in 2012 after 20 years of marriage with the Malibu property being a big part of contention. The couple decided to refrain from selling at one point but the outlet reports that Benson thinks that it’s time to sell so that she could get her cut.
