Jason Blum says that Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 will take fan complaints about the first movie into consideration.
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is currently scheduled to be released in United States theaters this coming December. Directed by Emma Tammi, the sequel to the 2023 horror movie will see Josh Hutcherson reprise his role as Mike Schmidt.
The first Five Nights at Freddy’s movie was a massive hit at the box office, as it made nearly $300 million globally; however, while fans of the video game series that it is based on seemed mostly pleased by the movie, it didn’t receive many positive reviews from critics.
What did Jason Blum say about Five Nights at Freddy’s 2?
Speaking at CCXPMX 25, per The Direct, Blum said that they’ve seen the complaints some fans had with the first Five Nights at Freddy’s movie and that they are taking them into consideration when approaching this new sequel.
“We took lots of the criticism saying it was not scary, lacked blood or strong scenes, we decided to implement all that in the sequel,” he said.
Plot details for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 remain under wraps at this time, as the logline for the movie simply reads, “Anyone can survive five nights. This time, there will be no second chances.”
Blum and Scott Cawthon are both producing Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, which will be released in United States theaters on December 5, 2025, from Universal Pictures.
The first movie, meanwhile, is currently available to stream on Starz.
“The terrifying horror game phenomenon becomes a blood-chilling cinematic event, as Blumhouse— the producer of M3GAN, The Black Phone, and The Invisible Man— brings Five Nights at Freddy’s to the big screen,” the synopsis for the first film reads. “The film follows a troubled security guard as he begins working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. While spending his first night on the job, he realizes the night shift at Freddy’s won’t be so easy to make it through.”
