Jamie Vardy’s Cremonese Team-Mates Give Incredibly Honest Verdict on His Diet

Jamie Vardy’s team-mates at Serie A side Cremonese have given a brilliant verdict on the former England striker’s unusual diet.

Vardy, 39, agreed a one-year deal with the newly-promoted Italian club in September 2025 after ending his 13-year stint at Leicester.

He has scored five goals in 16 Serie A games since his arrival, and won the league’s Player of the Month award for November.

His goals have played a role in keeping Cremonese away from the Serie A relegation zone, as they sit eight points clear of the drop after 20 games.

Vardy‘s preparation for football matches isn’t exactly conventional compared to most modern-day professional footballers – but it has certainly served the 39-year-old well during his career.

The 2015/16 Premier League winner told Sky Sports in 2020 that he drinks a can of Red Bull, a coffee and eats a ham and cheese omelette – along with more Red Bull – before every match.

He revealed that, back during his time in the Conference with Fleetwood, he would drink two whole cans of Monster Energy before matches.

Italian football journalist and broadcaster Nima Tavallaey Roodsari told SPORTbible in November that Italians see his diet as ‘add[ing] to his persona’, explaining: “People are really happy to have him in Serie A.”

But how have his team-mates reacted to witnessing Vardy consume his diet in-person?

Right-back Romano Floriani – who is on loan at Cremonese from Lazio – told the Daily Mail: “He drinks a fair amount of Red Bull.

“We have a fridge the height of a person that’s full of Red Bull.

“I think he drinks it every day but he manages brilliantly. When he trains it seems like he’s much younger.”

Centre-back Federico Baschirotto, meanwhile, says Vardy is ‘the best I’ve played with, along with [ex-Barcelona defender] Samuel Umtiti’, adding: “I told him I followed Leicester’s title-winning season. It’s an extra motivation for me, as I started at the lower levels too.”

Vardy’s wife Rebekah has joined him in northern Italy, along with their five children.

In a family photo uploaded to her Instagram account in November, Rebekah captioned the post in Italian, translated to: “In Italy, we always feel at home.”

According to Fabrizio Romano, Vardy’s contract at Cremonese has an optional one-year extension that can be triggered if the Italian club are not relegated, which would take the former England striker to beyond his 40th birthday as a professional footballer.
