Jamie Carragher saw a little dig aimed at Manchester United backfire after they stormed back from two goals down to stun Aston Villa.
The Liverpool legend couldn’t resist a social media post at half-time as Erik ten Hag‘s side trailed Villa 2-0 on Tuesday night.
He wrote: ‘Liverpool drawing at home to Man Utd is their worst result of the season.’
It referenced the goalless draw between the two arch-rivals at Anfield earlier this month in which Jurgen Klopp‘s team failed to score despite 34 shots on goal.
At that stage of the evening, United were in desperate trouble after John McGinn and Leander Dendoncker goals put high-flying Villa in complete control.

But United, staring at their 14th defeat of the season in all competitions, rallied brilliantly with two goals by Alejandro Garnacho hauling them level before Rasmus Hojlund scored his first Premier League goal to win it.
The win leaves United sixth in the table, five points off the top four and 11 behind leaders Liverpool, who won 2-0 at Burnley on Boxing Day.

Ten Hag, whose position is under increased scrutiny following Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s investment in the club, will hope his team can build on this much-needed win at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
Hojlund, who cost United £72million to sign from Atalanta in the summer, had netted five times during their short-lived Champions League campaign, but had failed to score in 16 domestic games until his late winner here.
‘Of course I’ve had several talks with him and every time I’ve pointed out he has scored for Denmark a lot, he has scored in the Champions League, he has demonstrated his ability so you can do it, believe,’ Ten Hag said of the 20-year-old Dane.Â
‘I’m sure now he has the first goal he will score more…
‘When a striker doesn’t score it’s a problem but he has a strong character, he is so solid, determined. He has a big personality. I think this is what a striker needs. When you keep investing, the goals will come.’

The result eased a bit of pressure on beleaguered Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag
Following the dramatic comeback, Ten Hag opened up on what he had told the squad during the interval, indicating that belief played a key role in their recovery.Â
‘The atmosphere changed a lot from the first half to the second, but if you look at the first half you are losing because of two set plays, in moments where we were not so focused,’ the Dutchman told Amazon Prime.
‘I think already in the first half we played quite well, and kept trying and trying. At half-time I said to the team, “keep believing, and keep doing what we did, actually do even more”.Â
‘We needed to put more and more pressure on. At 1-2 then when we added pressure you see what happened.
‘I said before the game that we were competitive with Arsenal, competitive with Liverpool so if we play our best we can beat anyone. Believe that, even when you are two-nil down, it doesn’t matter.Â
‘Keep going, show character, and today they did show we have the personality to do it. I think it was a very good team performance.’
