After more than two decades of dangerous stunts, shocking pranks, and countless injuries, Johnny Knoxville has finally revealed what will happen with future sequels. The co-creator recently confirmed where Jackass 5 stands.
Johnny Knoxville confirms that Jackass franchise will end with part 5
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Johnny Knoxville made it clear that Jackass 5, hitting theaters on June 26, will be the last time fans see the crew pushing their bodies to the absolute limit.
“This will be the last one,” Knoxville said. “This is the natural place to end. So it’s going to be absolutely awful.”
True to the franchise’s chaotic spirit, Knoxville leaned into the absurdity when discussing expectations for the film’s success. When the interviewer wished him well, he responded, “You hope it doesn’t go well at all! Should be a f–king train wreck. That’s what you should hope for. I think we designed it that way.”
The announcement comes after Knoxville confirmed that another movie was in the works, sharing the news on social media.
“Well a wang dang and hot damn doodle, we are starting the year off with a bang. We wanted to let you know that this summer Jackass is back!! We will see you in theatres June 26th,” he wrote. “More to come but wanted you to hear it from us first!!”
Co-created by Knoxville, Jeff Tremaine, and Spike Jonze, the Jackass franchise began as an MTV series that ran for three seasons from 2000 to 2001, spawning multiple feature films and spin-offs. What started as low-fi videos for Big Brother magazine, featuring Knoxville tasing himself, enduring pepper spray, and testing cheap bulletproof vests, exploded into a global phenomenon that redefined stunt entertainment.
With production underway and the June 26 release date approaching, Knoxville made one thing clear about Jackass 5: fans should expect exactly what they have always gotten from Jackass, the absolute worst ideas brought to life. As he put it, “It’s going to be terrible for them.”
